Join Ms. Jess and discover what it really takes to think, question, and explore like a scientist! What does it take to think like a scientist? In this class, students start by exploring the scientific method, the step-by-step toolkit that scientists use to ask questions and find answers, and discover what it really means to wonder, investigate, and figure things out. Then each week, we meet a new real-life scientist, learn about who they were and what made them curious, and try our own hands-on version of the kind of work they did! Students will walk in the footsteps of Marie Curie, Jane Goodall, Albert Einstein, Katherine Johnson, and more, seeing that science is an adventure real people have undertaken by asking "what if?" and "why?" Along the way, students will practice making careful observations, predicting, and interpreting their results, just like real scientists do. Whether they dream of a lab coat someday or not, every student will leave knowing that science isn't just something you read about; it's something you get to do!
