Your body is one of the most sophisticated machines ever built — an intricate biological system processing a constant stream of live data. Join instructor Justine Goodyear from the GEaRS (Global Education and Research Services) team as students step into the role of Lead Systems Analysts to investigate the variables that define human wellness.

In Health Analytics: Decoding the Human Machine, we will take a deep dive into the "Human Operating System," decoding the complex feedback loops that keep us energized and operating at peak efficiency. Moving beyond basic health facts, we examine the critical "inputs" and "outputs" of the body—from metabolic fuel to biomechanical optimization.

What's on the Dashboard?
  • The Nutritional Algorithm: Breaking down macromolecules and micronutrients to understand how different "inputs" change the system's "output."
  • System Optimization: Investigating the science of sleep, hydration, and mental focus as "system upgrades" for the brain and body.
  • Failure Analysis: Studying what happens when systems are overloaded by poor habits or environmental stress—and how to "reboot" for better health.
  • Cognitive Load Assessment: Measuring the "processing power" of the brain. We'll look at how sleep deprivation or high stress affects the "CPU" (the prefrontal cortex) and its decision-making ability.
  • Microbiome Interrogation: Examining the "secondary processors" in the gut. We'll investigate how trillions of bacteria influence the entire system's mood, immunity, and energy.
  • Cellular Maintenance & Repair: A deep dive into the "nightly reboot." We'll analyze what happens during the different stages of sleep to repair "hardware" (muscles) and clear "cached data" (brain toxins).

This is health class for the student who wants to understand the why behind the way their body works. Each Analyst will develop a Personalized Systems Profile, a data-driven understanding of how their own body functions and how to optimize it for the future.
