How have East Asia and America influenced one another throughout history? This engaging course explores the history, geography, cultures, traditions, and modern relationships of East Asian nations—including Korea, Japan, and China—and their connections with the United States.

Students will investigate how geography shapes societies, examine important historical events, compare cultural values, and discuss how trade, technology, and popular culture continue to connect our world today. Through maps, discussions, hands-on activities, and cultural experiences, students will develop a deeper understanding of both Eastern and Western perspectives.

Topics may include:

    • Physical and cultural geography of East Asia
    • Why East Asia and the U.S. Matter
    • World War II in East Asia
    • The Korean War and the Cold War
    • Modern relations between East Asia and the United States
    • Language, food, art, music, festivals, and daily life across cultures(especially K-culture)
