Advanced manufacturing combines digital technologies, automation, and advanced equipment to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency. In this hybrid course, you will gain foundational knowledge of CNC machining, additive manufacturing, robotics, smart manufacturing, and manufacturing career pathways. Topics include machine tools, CNC equipment, additive manufacturing processes, robot safety, automation technologies, workplace communication, and employability skills. Through self-paced online learning and instructor-led laboratory sessions, you will explore advanced manufacturing equipment and observe how modern technologies are used in production environments. This course may be taken independently or as part of the three-course Manufacturing Foundations series. Students preparing for the SME Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) credential are encouraged to complete all three courses in the recommended sequence. The course includes 7.5 hours of online instruction and 9 hours of instructor-led, in-person laboratory training.
