Safety and quality are the foundation of every successful manufacturing operation. In this hybrid course, you will build essential skills used in manufacturing, production, inspection, and CNC environments. Topics include manufacturing math, units of measurement, OSHA-aligned safety practices, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, fire prevention, lockout/tagout awareness, hand and power tool safety, and quality fundamentals. Through self-paced online learning and instructor-led laboratory sessions, you will develop practical workplace skills valued by employers through applied activities and demonstrations. This course may be taken independently or as part of the three-course Manufacturing Foundations series. Students preparing for the SME Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) credential are encouraged to complete all three courses in the recommended sequence. The course includes 13 hours of online instruction and 9 hours of instructor-led, in-person laboratory training.
