Precision and consistency are essential to producing quality manufactured products. In this hybrid course, you will develop skills used in manufacturing, quality, inspection, and assembly environments. Topics include lean manufacturing principles, 5S workplace organization, engineering drawings and blueprints, tolerances, measurement fundamentals, assembly processes, assembly safety, and threaded fastener applications. Through self-paced online learning and instructor-led laboratory sessions, you will develop practical skills in blueprint interpretation, dimensional inspection, precision measurement, and basic assembly techniques. This course may be taken independently or as part of the three-course Manufacturing Foundations series. Students preparing for the SME Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) credential are encouraged to complete all three courses in the recommended sequence. The course includes 8 hours of online instruction and 9 hours of instructor-led, in-person laboratory training.
