The Interior Decorating and Design program is designed to give you a comprehensive overview of interior decorating and design in a short time frame, helping you build the skills needed to compete for entry-level positions in the field. Throughout this course, you will explore the history and evolution of design styles, learn how to work with color and develop effective color palettes, and gain an understanding of floor plans and furniture placement.
As you progress through the program, you will build on these foundational skills by working with textiles, identifying and defining design styles, and learning the basics of trade procurement. In the final course, you will focus on accessorizing, the effective use of lighting, and creating impactful client presentations. You will also participate in hands-on practicum experiences, completing interior design projects outside of class according to a provided schedule.
A student manual is included in the cost of the program. You will also need to purchase additional materials and design tools, estimated at approximately $50, which you will use throughout all courses in the series. A materials list will be provided at the beginning of the program.
