In this hands-on introductory course, you will learn the fundamental skills needed to solder printed circuit boards and fabricate basic cables while building a strong foundation in basic electronics. Through guided practice, demonstrations, and supporting classroom instruction, you’ll become comfortable using essential soldering tools, common electronics test equipment, and industry-standard safety procedures.
You’ll learn proper techniques for creating clean, reliable solder joints, assembling components, and working with electronic materials, as well as how to understand and interpret electronic schematics and technical drawings. The course also introduces core electronic concepts and components, with opportunities to test, analyze, and troubleshoot electronic circuits using diagnostic tools. Safety procedures are emphasized throughout to help you develop strong, professional habits for working confidently in technical environments.
Continuing education students will take this course alongside credit students enrolled in ELT-1026.
