Cyber Ethics: A Philosophy of Technology and the Internet

In this class, you’ll explore philosophical questions about how to use computer technology and the internet safely, responsibly, and ethically. This course examines the role technology plays in today’s society and the moral challenges we face online. You’ll consider issues such as privacy, intellectual property, cyber abuse and crime, codes of conduct, policy development, and the digital divide. You’ll also reflect on how the global and often anonymous nature of the internet makes it difficult to apply traditional moral rules to virtual spaces—and what philosophy can teach you about responsible digital citizenship. 
Continuing education students will take this course alongside credit students enrolled in PHL-1150.
