In this class you’ll explore contemporary legal issues by examining the philosophical foundations of law and its role in American society. This course looks at how philosophers and legal thinkers have addressed questions about law and morality, civil disobedience, equality, rights, and justice. Readings include works by philosophers, legal scholars, political scientists, sociologists, and court decisions, helping you understand how legal systems reflect deeper philosophical ideas about fairness and social order.
Continuing Education students will take this course alongside credit students enrolled in PHL-1420.
