Explore CSM's accelerated professional training for veterinary assistants, which can be completed in approximately one year. This program prepares students for opportunities in veterinary clinics, animal shelters, sanctuaries, and related settings.

Veterinary assistants support veterinary teams with feeding, sanitizing, sterilizing equipment, basic medication administration, preparing samples, and conducting essential laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood analysis.

This Continuing Education Certificate opens to new students once a year. Registration begins in mid-July, with classes starting in late August or early September. Students take two classes in the fall, three in the spring, and one final class in the summer. All six classes must be completed to earn the certificate.

Fall Semester
Students must register for both classes.
> HTH-8100 VETERINARY ASSISTANT I – THEORY: CLIENT RELATIONS, DIAGNOSTIC, AND PHARMACY
> HTH-8110 VETERINARY ASSISTANT I – LAB: CLIENT RELATIONS, DIAGNOSTIC, AND PHARMACY

Spring Semester
Students must register for all three classes.
> HTH-8120 VETERINARY ASSISTANT I – PRACTICUM
> HTH-8130 VETERINARY ASSISTANT II – THEORY: PATIENT CARE, SURGERY, ANESTHESIA, AND EMERGENCY CARE
> HTH-8140 VETERINARY ASSISTANT II – LAB: PATIENT CARE, SURGERY, ANESTHESIA, AND EMERGENCY CARE

Summer Semester
> HTH-8150 VETERINARY ASSISTANT II – PRACTICUM
