Why does your heart race when you push yourself to move faster? What separates someone who feels strong and energized from someone who doesn't? Human Performance Lab answers those questions and more through movement, training, and real exercise science instruction.

Built on a foundation of physical activity and led by instructor Justine Goodyear from the GEaRS (Global Education and Research Services) team. Mrs. Goodyear holds an M.S. in Exercise Science. She is a Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Certified Personal Trainer — making her the perfect fit for this fun performance lab.

Every class, students will exercise, compete, and test their limits while learning the science behind every rep, sprint, and recovery. This is physical education elevated — a course where physical training and applied science happen together, every single week.
Each session is structured around a core training concept such as cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength and endurance, speed and agility, flexibility and mobility, or recovery. That physical experience becomes the entry point into real exercise science content, so students aren't just moving—they're understanding why and how their bodies respond and adapt.

Students will try bodyweight circuits, resistance bands, interval work, and sport-based drills while exploring how energy systems power performance, how muscles respond to training stress, how nutrition fuels the body, and how recovery drives improvement. Fitness assessments at the start and end of the course give every student concrete, measurable data on their own physical progress.
This course is designed for any student who is curious about their body, serious about their athletic performance, or both. This lab will change the way you think about movement.

No athletic experience necessary—bring your curiosity and your sneakers.

Please note: To ensure the best learning experience, activities may be modified depending on student needs, resources, or instructional planning.
