Prior Learning Evaluation for Credit
Our Workforce Development Training Programs offers Prior Learning Evaluation that may give you credit for Prior Learning. The Prior Learning Evaluation takes approximately 3-5 business days to process. You will be notified by email when a decision is made and whether you will be eligible to register for your first course.
To request your Prior Learning Evaluation, you will need to complete the Prior Learning Evaluation Form and submit that with documentation of prior learning to the Program Coordinator for your course of study (see list below). All Prior Learning Credit Evaluations and supporting documentation must be submitted at least two weeks before the start date of your intended course. Prior Learning Credit for High School Trades Course Work
If you took a trades class at your local high school that followed the NCCER curriculum, please email your NCCER ID Number to Michael Langton mlangton@csmd.edu, so he can obtain your NCCER transcript and evaluate it. If you do not know your NCCER ID, we may be able to locate it in the NCCER Registry. If we are unable to locate your NCCER ID, we will advise you to request an official transcript from your high school and have the school mail it to:College of Southern Maryland

Prior Learning Credit for TEC-9300 Construction Trades Core Skills
To receive Prior Learning Credit for TEC-9300, Construction Trades Core Skills:- Complete the Prior Learning Evaluation Form.
- Obtain a copy of your OSHA-10 construction card (or certified safety training).
- Obtain a letter from your employer verifying one year of paid employment in a construction-related field or military record. In the letter, have your employer state your full name, the start and end date of your work experience, your job title, and your specific job duties. Please, have your employer sign and date the letter.
