Join Ms. Jess and discover what it really takes to think, question, and explore like a scientist! What does it take to think like a scientist? In this class, students kick off by exploring the scientific method, the essential toolkit behind every great discovery, and what it really means to ask questions, investigate, and find answers. Then each week, we zoom in on a different real scientist, learning about their life, their curiosity, and the breakthroughs they made, before rolling up our sleeves and trying our own hand at the kind of work they did. Students will explore the discoveries of Marie Curie, Jane Goodall, Albert Einstein, Katherine Johnson, and more; experiencing science as a living, human pursuit driven by curiosity, persistence, and bold thinking. Along the way, students will build observation skills, practice forming hypotheses, learn to interpret results, and develop the kind of curiosity and persistence that every great scientist shares. Whether they grow up to wear a lab coat or not, every student will leave knowing that science isn't just something you study; it's something you do.
