Join instructor Taylor McNulty from the GEaRS (Global Education and Research Services) team for this playful, hands-on geometry class, where young learners will discover the exciting world of shapes all around them! Through games, stories, art, and movement, students will explore basic 2D and 3D shapes like circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, cubes, and spheres.
Each week, children will become "shape detectives," learning to identify shapes in everyday objects, build their own creations, and describe shapes using simple math vocabulary (such as sides, corners, and edges). Students will sort, draw, and construct shapes while developing early geometry skills and spatial awareness.
Through engaging activities like shape scavenger hunts, building challenges, pattern play, and creative crafts, children will strengthen problem-solving skills and confidence in math—all while having fun!
By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize and describe a variety of shapes, understand how shapes fit together, and see how geometry is part of the world around them.
