Join instructor Abby McDonald from the GEaRS (Global Education and Research Services) team in Art & Story! What if every picture had a secret to tell? In Art & Story, students discover that art has always been one of the most powerful ways humans have shared their experiences, passed down traditions, and made sense of the world around them. Each week, we explore a different way that artists use images to tell stories, from comic strips and illustrated scenes to portraits, landscapes, symbols, and wordless picture books. Students will study real artists and storytelling traditions from around the world, try their hand at each style, and build a semester-long collection of original artwork that tells stories only they can tell. Whether they love to draw, design, collage, or create, every student will find their voice as a visual storyteller. No experience needed — just imagination and a story worth sharing!

Please note: To ensure the best learning experience, activities may be modified depending on student needs, resources, or instructional planning.
