Step into the movement lab and discover the amazing science behind how you move! Join instructor Justine Goodyear from the GEaRS (Global Education and Research Services) team as the class becomes a living laboratory. Mrs. Goodyear holds an M.S. in Exercise Science. She is a Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Certified Personal Trainer — making her the perfect fit for this fun movement lab.
This high-energy class combines academic lessons, hands-on activities, movement challenges, fun games, and real fitness testing to uncover how the human body works. From testing your "engine" (heart) to powering your "pulleys" (muscles), students will learn how to train like a scientist and move like an athlete.
Each week is built on a foundation of active movement and exercise, with science woven into every jump, sprint, stretch, and challenge. Students aren't just working out — they're discovering why their heart beats faster when they run, how their muscles get stronger when they train, and what their body needs to perform and feel its best.
Topics we will cover include: muscles, bones, the heart, lungs, brain, nutrition, recovery, and more — all while staying active, having fun, and thinking like real exercise scientists. This lab is a one-of-a-kind physical education experience where students get moving, get sweaty, and get smart about their bodies — all at once.
Each student will maintain a Lab Notebook to track their personal physical testing data and to learn that "science" is something we do with our whole bodies. This class is perfect for curious kids who love to move and want to know "why" their bodies are so incredible.
No athletic experience necessary—bring your curiosity and your sneakers.
Please note: To ensure the best learning experience, activities may be modified depending on student needs, resources, or instructional planning.
