Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide essential patient care, including feeding, dressing, grooming, and assisting with mobility, under nursing staff supervision.
For certification eligibility, students must complete designated courses:
> HTH-6260 NURSING ASSISTANT FUNDAMENTALS
> HTH-6280 NURSING ASSISTANT PRACTICE
Completing both qualifies you to take the Maryland Nurse Aide Competency Exam, which includes written (or oral) and skills components. Passing both allows you to apply for CNA 1 certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Notice: COVID-19 and flu vaccines may be required by clinical partners. Other vaccines (Varicella, MMR, TDaP, HepB, etc.) are mandatory. Students who don't meet clinical site requirements must withdraw.
PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING FOR CNA
- Students must be 18 or older at registration.
- Before registering, complete the Work Keys Assessment with a minimum score of 4-4-4.
- Background checks and health screenings are required; details provided on the first day.
- Orientation is MANDATORY. This program requires 100% attendance.
- Budget $200–$300 for uniforms and board requirements.
- You must register for HTH-6260 and HTH-6280 together.
