ClassGraphic All Water Treatment, Water Distribution (Process) This online Water Treatment Basics course will cover topics that will allow participants to gain a basic understanding of the operation of a small water system. Each subject's Tech Brief, developed by the National Environmental Services Center (NESC), is a four-page fact sheet which provides brief technical information about a drinking water issue relevant to the small water system. The Tech Briefs (modules) include: Preventing Well Contamination, Water Quality in Distribution Systems, Reservoirs, Towers, and Tanks, Pumps, Valves, Disinfection (Ultraviolet Disinfection, Chlorination) Leak Detection and Water Loss Control, Repairing Distribution Line Breaks, Cross Connection and Backflow Prevention, Water Hammer, Water Meters, and Water Efficiency and Conservation. This is a progressive course where students are required to successfully complete each module in a specific order prior to moving forward. Each module will contain the appropriate "Tech Brief", a video, and a quiz to ensure maximum retention of information.
