Course number : PEP-5930   ID : 6779
« back to classes page
Southern Maryland has a large diversity and abundance of plants that can be foraged for food and medicine! As food costs rise, and interest in natural wellness grows, more and more are turning to the lost art of foraging, once a cornerstone of human survival. This class will be a two-part series, with the first session focusing on the plants. We explore the grounds of the campus and learn basic identification skills of wild edibles, as well as other safety and ethical considerations of foraging. The second session will be focused on the preparation of wild plants to make into delicious culinary dishes and conclude with a luncheon of a variety of wild food dishes.
