Welding students will advance their skills in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) processes. Through lab instruction, emphasis will be placed on the student's ability to prepare material and perform welding of fillet and groove welds in carbon steel in all positions. Practice is geared towards Structural Welding Code vertical (3G) and overhead (4G) tests. Certification tests will also be administered within this course: GMAW AWS D9.1 vertical or overhead sheet metal test and FCAW AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code-Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G & 4G positions on 3/8” plate.
