Students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Geriatric Nursing Assistant performing delegated nursing tasks. These courses meet eligibility requirements to become a Certified Nursing Assistant through the Maryland Board of Nursing and become eligible to take the NNAAP Maryland Nurse Aide Examination.   A student who successfully completes this workforce training certificate demonstrates application of comprehensive knowledge and skills of the nursing assistant in a clinical setting and meets eligibility requirements to become a certified nursing assistant through application to the Maryland Board of Nursing. To obtain their Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Certification, students will take the NNAAP Maryland Nurse Aide Examination approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing.  Students will complete a review of GNA skills in preparation for the NNAAP exam. Exam included in the cost of the course.  Textbooks, skills pack, uniforms, health screening, background check, and drug screen are required and are used in HTH-6270 and HTH-6290.

PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING FOR CNA/GNA 
  1. Students must be at least 18 years of age at time of registration.
  2. Students must take the Work Keys Assessment prior to registration. Students must meet minimum scores of 4-4-4.
  3. Students must complete a background check and upload health screening information to CastleBranch. Requirements will be discussed in orientation. Failure to complete this could result in loss of clinical spot.
  4. The first day of class is a MANDATORY orientation.
  5. This program has a 100% attendance requirement.
  6. Students should expect an additional $200-$300 expense for uniforms and Maryland Board of Nursing requirements.
  7. Regulations require students to register for HTH-6270 and the HTH-6290 together.
