ClassGraphic Instrumentation and controls has become an integral part in the day-to-day operations of any treatment plant to control and/or monitor plant processes. This course provides entry-level operators with a basic knowledge of instrumentation and how to use it to monitor water and wastewater treatment processes. Operators will learn the skills to recognize abnormal operation, perform rudimentary preventative maintenance, and report malfunctions. Topics will include typical instruments and their purposes, use of Original Equipment Manufacturer's manuals, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), basics of monitoring and control of processes using the Human Machine Interface (HMI), types of alarms, basic diagnostic operations, and preventative maintenance measures.
