This two-day Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) approved course is designed for the true beginning rider with little to no riding experience and who wants to obtain a Class M endorsement on current license.  Taught by MDOT MVA and Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified instructor/rider coaches; topics covered include practicing clutch-throttle control, stopping, turning, shifting, and basic crash avoidance skills through classroom activities (modified to be administered on the motorcycle range) and riding instruction using 250cc training motorcycles provided by our training program.  Participants are required to complete a five-hour MSF online, “eCourse” prior to attending the two-day riding instruction and must present a copy of the “eCourse” completion certificate on the first day of instruction to participate.  The “eCourse” will be provided by our program at least 3 days prior to the first day of riding instruction and topics include basic operation, preparing to ride, and some more advanced topics like risk and riding, and basic street strategies.  Basic riding gear, or personal protective equipment (PPE), will be the responsibility of the rider and is required to participate in the two-day training.  Click here for the PPE Checklist.  The instructor/rider coach will inspect each participant’s gear at the beginning of instruction on the first day and determine if the PPE is satisfactory for participation.  If any item of the student’s gear does not meet the required standards the student will not be allowed to participate in the course.  Throughout the course the instructor/rider coaches evaluate and coach each rider's performance. Participants who do not achieve the minimum performance standards will not be allowed to continue in the course.  To complete the course, riders must pass a knowledge and skill test administered at the end of the course. Riders who pass will receive a Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card. Riders with a Maryland Driver’s License will also receive a Completion Certificate to get the Class M license added to their current license.
