Preparation, administration, and charting of non-parenteral medications will be taught to geriatric nursing assistants (GNA) who work in long-term care facilities. CDC guidelines for personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control will be also be discussed. Applicants must be certified by the Maryland Board of Nursing as: 1) geriatric nursing assistant; 2) certified nursing assistant; 3) be currently employed by a long-term facility; 4) have one year's work experience as a geriatric nursing assistant in a long-term care facility. Attendance at the orientation session, the first scheduled date of the class, is a MANDATORY.
