CCMAs prepare patients for the doctor, obtaining vital signs, collecting specimens, performing EKGs, and assisting during exams and procedures.
Upon finishing this workforce training certificate, students are eligible to take the National Health Career Association (NHA) exam for Clinical Medical Assistant national certification. To be eligible for this certification, students must successfully complete the specified courses:
> HTH-5330 Introduction to Clinical Medical Assisting
> HTH-5340 Basic Procedures for Medical Assisting
> HTH-5350 Advanced Procedures for Medical Assisting
The pathway from CCMA to Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) offers a smooth transition.
> Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Training Certificate: Gain the expertise needed to qualify for the National Healthcareer Association’s CCMA certification exam in a concise three-month program.
> Medical Assisting Certificate: Equip yourself for the Registered Medical Assistant national certification exam through our comprehensive 12-month, 34-credit academic program.
Students who complete CSM’s CCMA workforce training certificate and earn the NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant credential will receive academic credit thru the certification verification process for the following courses:
> HEA-1751 Introduction to Legal and Biomedical Issues in Healthcare (1 Credit)
> HEA-1100 Medical Terminology (1 Credit)
> MED-1410 Medical Assisting: Basic Operations (3 credits)
