Through lectures, labs, and driving exercises,  participants gain skill in safely managing the operation of a commercial vehicle in  various driving situations.  Additional topics include pre- and post-trip inspection, map reading, brake adjustment, defensive driving, and hauling hazardous materials. Students successfully completing this  program are eligible to take the Motor  Vehicle Administration Commercial Vehicle License Class A skills test.  Upon  licensure, students are eligible for employment as drivers of tractor-trailers, dump trucks,  commerical delivery equipment, and other vehicles requiring a commercial driver's license.

PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING FOR CDL CLASS A 
  1. Students must complete the CDL A Orientation and TRA-7100 prior to registering for this certificate.
  2. Students must upload a valid Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC Commercial Drivers License Learners Permit before registering. 
  3. Student must register TRA-7250, TRA-7350 and TRA-7450 together in one transaction.
