Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED^® Test Preparation Program

Adult education classes are free for Maryland residents. You must be 18 years or older and you are not required to be enrolled in high school. You must attend an orientation session prior to taking any class.

Adult basic education (ABE) courses prepare students to earn their high school diploma, improve reading and math skills, develop job readiness skills, or increase family literacy.

GED Preparation classes are available in both in-person and real-time online formats. These classes equip students to pass the GED exam and earn a Maryland high school diploma. The program includes opportunities for GED Ready^TM practice tests, hands-on experience with the GED calculator, and focused study on specific GED skills. With either eleven or eight-week class duration and small class sizes, the learning experience is tailored to address the individual needs of each student.

NEW STUDENTS: Please register for ABE-5800 GED/NEDP Orientation to enter the program.

CURRENT STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAM: Do NOT register for ABE-5800 GED/NEDP Orientation if you are already in the adult education program. This is only for potential new students. Please register for your next assigned class.
