American Sign Language is designed to develop the skills and knowledge needed to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL). This course emphasizes the learning of basic person-to-person ("through the air") conversational signing skills in ASL, including use and comprehension of ASL vocabulary and fingerspelling driven with mini-dialogues. Become acquainted with deaf culture, learn bicultural appropriate behaviors, and receive a brief overview of the history of deafness in America. Textbook required and will be used for all three ASL classes –" Master ASL! Level I".
