A Phlebotomy Technician operates within outpatient labs in hospitals, clinics, or patient centers, specializing in blood collection from patients or donors.

With further training, a technician can become a Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist and prepare specimens, operate analyzers, and perform manual tests.

Prerequisite: A current AHA Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Card is required before beginning HTH-7100. CSM offers HTH-6620.

For certification eligibility, students must complete the designated courses.

Notice: COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for clinical placement per CSM's clinical partners.

  2. Non-compliance Consequences. Failure to vaccinate will result in:
    > Losing registration for clinical courses.
    > Possible withdrawal from nursing or health program.
  3. Definition of 'Vaccinated.' Student has:
    > Received a single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine (or any subsequent single-dose authorized vaccine).
    > Completed both doses of 2-dose mRNA vaccine and additional booster doses recommended by CDC/ACIP.
  4. Documentation Process. Upon completing the vaccination, students must:
    > Upload their vaccination documentation to one of the nation's top ten compliance management and background screening firms.
  5. Guidance: Detailed instructions on the vaccination documentation process will be provided to students on the first day of classes.
